Pattern Weaving on Multi-Shaft Looms
This intensive course introduces pattern weaving on multi-shaft looms, with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning. It is designed for fashion designers, interior designers, entrepreneurs, and serious craft practitioners who want to work with woven structures beyond surface experimentation.
Participants work through the complete process of multi-shaft weaving, from warp preparation to woven fabric, while developing the ability to read, analyse, and apply weave drafts.
- Limited batch size to allow focused engagement
- All materials are provided
- Schedule: 6 days per week, 6 hours per day
- Course Facilitator: Experienced textile designer from NID/NIFT/IIHT
What the course covers

Hands-on learning
Each participant works individually on an Ashford 4-shaft table loom. Over the course, looms are dressed three times, allowing repeated practice and confidence in setting up for multi-shaft weaving.
Software simulation, draft reading and material exploration support a deeper understanding of fabric construction and drape.

-
Project work
Participants complete a finished woven project such as a table runner, placemats, or a cushion cover. The project includes yarn selection, colour planning, draft preparation, warp calculation, loom dressing and weaving.

-
Course material
Participants take home a binder containing reference material and swatches woven during the course.
